Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller will be responsible for all daily, monthly and annual accounting activities for Simpson Farms and related group of companies. As a point of contact for inquiries related to accounting you will oversee and administer the various accounting functions for the company in compliance with federal and/or provincial regulations, along with adhering to company policies and procedures. 

·       Completed post-secondary education in Accounting, Commerce, or Finance required

·       0 to 3 years experience in a similar role

 

·       Pursuing a CPA or a CPA designation, an asset

 

·       Working knowledge of accounting principles

·       Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

·       Quickbooks Online experience is an asset

·       Daily recording of receivables and payables

·       Depositing all cheques and paying all payables

·       Bank reconciliations

·       Maintain capital asset ledger

·       Compiling information for month end financial statements.

·       Cashflow forecasting

·       Paying and tracking rent payments to all landlords. 

·       Daily banking duties and communication

·       Doing all year-end adjustments for a group of farm companies

·       Preparation of the year-end file and the allocation of accounts to the various joint venture participating companies.

·       Preparation of the year-end financial statements for all companies so they are ready for the corporate tax return to be completed.

·       Completion of the AgStability forms annually.

·       Provide corporate banking partners with information as required.

·       Seed deposits and collections

·       Credit Card Processing

·       Assist with Inventory Tracking

·       GST Filings for all Farm Companies

·       Preparing financial information and participation in board meetings

·       Assist with annual insurance renewals
